Sex Offense Registration Violations

Cleveland Sex Offender Registration Attorney

Northeastern Ohio Sexual Offense Defense Lawyer

If you have been convicted of rape and certain other sex crimes, you are required to register your current address after you are released from prison. The frequency with which you must register and the restrictions on where you may live vary according to the seriousness of the crime and penalties imposed.

You may be prevented from residing within 1,000 feet of a school. Failure to report is taken seriously and may constitute violation of conditions of your sentence.

Of course, no one wants their neighbors to know about unlawful sexual contact or another criminal conviction, and people have been threatened and mistreated just because their neighbors discovered their past via the sex offender registration. This has motivated many an offender to give a false address, to move without re-registering, or otherwise simply fail to register.

Someone convicted of a minor offense, on which he may actually have been innocent, will feel especially resistant to sex offender registration requirements.

There are proponents and opponents on all sides of this controversy. But there is no uncertainty on where I stand. I am on your side, regardless what your underlying conviction was for, or why you failed to register.
